Have a business? Then this article is for you! Marketing your services and products on Pinterest is one of the best ways to get free traffic. The best part is you don’t have to wait as long to get traffic as you do with organic search traffic. Pinterest Marketing is the way to go!
What is Pinterest Marketing?
Pinterest Marketing is when you provide valuable content with the intention of gaining potential clients or customers. It is advertising and educating your services or products in a visual way on Pinterest.
But first make sure you have a business account as you will want access to all that valuable analytic data! It is free and easy to do so make sure you sign up. (You will need a basic account to sign up for the business account.)
Pinterest, like any other platform, does have rules to follow. Make sure you read their spam polices as you can have your account deactivated quite easily.
Create A Business Account
First you will need to create a business account. To create a business account, you will need to go to the Pinterest login page and click “Sign Up” on the upper right-hand side.
A Sign-Up Form will pop up.
Scroll Down and click “Create A Business Account”. This will now populate a business account sign up form.
If you already have an account follow these Instructions On Pinterest. After you go through the sign-up process you will need to start creating pins.
How To Use Pinterest To Market Your Business
First and foremost, Pinterest is a search engine just like google. The big difference is it is a visual search engine so you will need some type of image for this to work. You can leverage this visual search engine to help boost your traffic and (hopefully) sales to your website. The best news is it takes about a fourth of the time to gain traffic from Pinterest than it does to gain regular organic traffic. While you can gain traffic right away expect it to take up to three months to really get going. Organic traffic can take up to a year to really see progress.
Use Pinterest to promote your site by creating pins that link to the content that you are wanting to promote. Some eye-catching phrases along with a well chosen image can help bring traffic to your site.
You will also need knowledge of SEO to optimize your pins, boards, and profile.
While you can make pins without any SEO knowledge you may not see results as fast or in some cases at all.
Pinterest Marketing Tools
There are some tools that can help make your job easier. I use Canva and Tailwind.
Canva is a graphics site. You can sign up and use it for free. The pro version gives you a lot more to work with but is not necessary, especially if you are a beginner. I found I love having access to Pro but I used Canva free for months without taking the leap.
Tailwind is a pin scheduler. It helps take the pinning from manual to automated.
You can get the first month free by using this link.
You can use it to create pins and automate your pinning schedule. They are authorized partners of Pinterest.
If you plan to use Pinterest for the long-term, eventually you will need a scheduler of some sort. Otherwise you will be scheduling you pins manually on a daily basis. This is fine for beginners, but beware that you need to pin everyday to gain traction on your Pinterest account. If you Pin only when you have time, like once a week, your account will not see good results as it will never be considered a “good” account.
There are other schedulers and graphics sites out there, but since I do not have any personal experience with them, I have chosen not to list them at this time.
Spam is a NO! NO!
Please read Pinterest Community Guidelines prior to pinning anything as this will help you learn what not to pin! This is a must read!
