More Information And Frequently Asked Questions About Wealthy Affiliate

Spread the love

Thinking of joining Wealthy Affiliate? I bet you have a ton of questions and we are going to do our best to answer them all, but before you do, please read our review here. The review is the basic run down of Wealthy Affiliate (WA). This article goes much more in depth.

What is Wealthy Affiliate?

Wealthy Affiliate is an online educational training platform that teaches its members how to do affiliate marketing and build a WordPress site. They provide the tool you need to become successful online but it is not for the feint hearted and the lazy. They will not do the work for you. It is up to you to work the program.

Wealthy Affiliate’s program is NOT a get rich scheme, a pyramid scheme, or an MLM. It is a comprehensive training platform that provides valuable services like hosting, a keyword tool, training, weekly live classes, community, and so much more.

including affiliate marketing training and website hosting.

Wealthy Affiliate offers a single-level affiliate program to encourage its members to refer potential new members to the site. This is normal affiliate marketing without the inflated prices needed for multiple levels of compensation.

Wealthy Affiliate does have an affiliate program where you can promote the program but it is not mandatory. In fact, most people have their own unique niche sites.

If you are interested in the affiliate program here is the run down. WA pays its members when their referrals become premium members. It is a recurring monthly income for as long as that referral remains a premium member. There is no “down-line” so you don’t make money when your referrals get referrals of their own. So again, it is NOT a pyramid scheme or an MLM and promoting WA is not a requirement.

Is Wealthy Affiliate Training Outdated?

Yes and no. Some of the basic training is outdated as in the videos might show the older platform but the information contained in the video is still current. WA has changed its platform several times over its 15-year history. The latest platform update was early in 2021. According to Kyle and Carson, they are working on new training for the new platform that will be out a little later this year. WA is also in the process of changing its basic SEO plugin so new training will be made for that as well.

That being said there is constantly new training being added by WA and its members. There are thousands of videos, tutorials, posts, and questions and more added daily. It’s a lot to immerse  yourself in so take your time.

There is also a weekly live class hosted by user magistudios (Jay) who is the live training coach. If there are any important or urgent updates it is reported then live accompanied by a blog post. All the webinars are available for replay within 24 hrs.

What are the upsells at Wealthy Affiliate?

Premium membership at Wealthy Affiliate includes most of what you’ll need to become successful as an affiliate marketer. Even the keyword tool, Jaaxy Lite, is included in the cost of premium membership.

There is one upsell, which we call an upgrade, and that is to the premium plus membership (added at the end of 2020). If you are just starting out there is no need to upgrade right away. The premium plus membership adds advance training that you won’t need for quite awhile. It also adds quite a number of features for someone who is much more advance and wants a network of sites. We are not knocking the premium plus plan it just is not necessary for the complete beginner.

There is only one other cost and that will be your domain name. A Domain name cost about 15 dollars from wealthy affiliate, however, you can buy it from somewhere else and then move it to WA. (If you do buy it from somewhere else, find out how to move it to your new hosting company correctly first.) More on domain names later in this article.

Other Potential Costs

There are other potential costs to running a website and a business, but these are optional and are not purchased or a part of Wealthy Affiliate.

There are Premium themes and premium plugins for WordPress that you may find you want to purchase somewhere down the line.  That being said there are many free themes and plugins available. There are many Wealthy Affiliate members who never purchase a premium theme or plugin and are perfectly happy with that choice.

If you want to start an email marketing campaign it will require a autoresponder such as AWeber, GetResponse, or ConvertKit. There is also a company called MailChimp. We don’t recommend them to anyone in the MMO (Make Money Online) niche as they are barred from using this particular service per their terms and conditions. Our Favorite company is AWeber and it is free up to 500 subscribers.

More On Domain Names

We’ve had quite a few new starter members ask why WA charges for domain names that it should be part of the package because they think that WA owns the domain names. That is not how it works.

The domain name system (DNS) is overseen by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN.

But ICANN doesn’t do all the hard work by itself. They delegate control over the various Top Level Domains like .com, .net, .org etc., to various entities known as Registries. These companies then become directly responsible for managing specific extensions. So, a registry controls and maintains the database of domains within their extension and makes it accessible through WHOIS tool.

Now, the registry may designate entities called Registrars. A registrar is a company that sells domain names to the end customer. So, if you want to register a web address for your new site, you’ll go to a registrar like 123 Reg that provides domain names from different registries, all in one place. If the domain you want is available, it’ll be registered in your name…

When you have time read the full article it is an interesting read and a great introduction to domains and how they work.

Wealthy Affiliate acts as a domain name reseller for Enom.

You will choose a domain name which will be the unique online address to your site (also called a URL).  The process of finding a unique domain name can be difficult but WA and its members will help you out if you need it.

Wealthy Affiliate Membership

How much does Wealthy Affiliate cost?

The Wealthy Affiliate premium membership costs $49 a month or $495 annually. There is usually a special discount offer for Black Friday in November.

There is a special first month discount of $19 for premium. This gives you more time to try out the premium membership at a discounted rate.

Also added earlier in 2021 was the premium plus membership. It costs $99 a month or $995 annually.

Billing is automatic until you cancel your account.

To repeat, once you subscribe you stay subscribed until you cancel your account.

“Subscription to Wealthy Affiliate Premium and Paid Services are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis (as per the option you have chosen when you purchased Services) and are non-refundable for the subscription period they are purchased for.”

How can I contact Wealthy Affiliate?

For general inquiries or billing problems there’s a contact form you can use at https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/contact

Where do I find the Terms of Services Agreement?

When you subscribe to Wealthy Affiliate you are entering into a legally binding agreement. You’ll find full details of Wealthy Affiliate’s Terms of Service here.

Can I get a refund?

No. WA does not offer refunds and it states that quite clearly in its Terms of Services.

They do offer a free trial starter member program so you can try the platform before you buy. So there is no need for them to offer a money-back guarantee.

Members vs Premium Members

What are the differences between starter members and premium members?

The chart below breaks down the differences visually.

Starter Members

Can starter members watch the Live Events/Webinars during the first 7 days?

No, the live classes are only available to premium and premium plus members

Can starter members install plugins?

No. Your site will come with a few preinstalled plugins but you will not be able to add any more.

Can starter members choose a different theme?

Sort of. You cannot add a new theme but your website will come with a couple of basic options to choose from. One option is the GeneratePress free theme.

For Premium members, you can choose from over 7,000 themes and/or purchase a premium theme through a 3rd party. Wealthy Affiliate does not include or sell premium themes. Purchasing a premium theme is completely optional, however you may find you want to upgrade for more options.

The Wealthy Affiliate platform

I just joined WA, where do I start?

This is where you start the training Get Rolling. If you are starting with the bootcamp (MMO) niche click here.

There is a lot to explore so be patient and take your time.

How can I get help?

There are quite a few options for getting help at Wealthy Affiliate.

The first place to start is the grey search bar at the top of every page. Most questions have been asked and answered many times and you’ll probably find just what you’re looking for right there.

You can also ask the community for help in the forum or jump in to live chat.

Live chat is for members to socialize and help other members. It is NOT the place for technical support.

If you’re having technical difficulties with your website, then you will need to contact Site Support. They usually respond within 20 minutes but there are times when they get busy and it can take a couple of hours but all correspondence happens the same day as when you ask your question.

If you need to contact the Kyle or Carson then the best place to do that is the contact page.

What happens to my website when I cancel my Wealthy Affiliate Membership?

If you decide to cancel your membership, your hosting will be turned off on the date your membership ends. If you have paid for the month and cancel then it will be turned off when that month is over.

Make sure to make backups of the site.

Can I go back to being a free starter member?

No. It is a “starter membership” for a reason. You can stay as a starter for awhile, but your access to the forums, chat, and support will end after the 7-day trail. You can keep working on your website for up to 6 months but you will need to upgrade in the end to be able to move your site. Plus you will only have access to the first 10 lessons.

If you wish to start from scratch, you could of course create a new profile but you won’t have access to any of your old data.

What if I leave Wealthy Affiliate and come back later?

You can do that of course but remember your website will not be saved during the time you are gone. It is up to you to have back ups of your site. If it is at another hosting company that is fine too. You can move it back to WA hosting or keep your website where it is at.

What is the Wealthy Affiliate Blog For?

It is a place for members to write about their journey, success, and experience. It is also a place where members post tips, tricks, and training. On occasion someone might post a health update or about a vacation paid for by their work at WA. Usually these members have a following that cares about them.

Mostly though it is for business related information and activities.

Please note that wealthy affiliate blogs do get picked up by the search engines and indexed.

You do need to be careful because there are a lot of things you can not write about because it is considered SPAM. Read Spam is a NO! NO!. These rules are in place for a reason and help to protect WA’s members.

Can I use my existing website at Wealthy Affiliate?

Yes. If you have an existing WordPress website then contact Site Support who will then help you to move your website to the WA servers.

If you already have hosting somewhere else and want to keep it that way that is ok too.

Many

If bought my domain name somewhere else can I host it at WA?
